CAJUN STYLE GROUND BEEF AND CABBAGE

Brother George received this recipe from a fellow Vietnam veteran. He says "It's hot stuff!! Make your next Baptist Casserole one to remember!! Guaranteed to make the worst sinner pray for the fire to go out!"

1 pound ground beef
1 medium green pepper, chopped
1 medium onion, chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 10 ounce can diced tomatoes and green chilies
1 8 ounce can tomato sauce
1/2 cup uncooked long grain rice
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. dried basil
1/2 tsp. oregano
1/4 to 1/2 tsp. each white, black and cayenne pepper
6 to 8 drops hot pepper sauce
1 small head of cabbage
4 ounces of shredded colby cheese

In a skillet, cook the beef, green pepper, onion and garlic until meat is no longer pink; drain. Stir in the tomatoes and tomato sauce, rice and seasonings.

Put in an ungreased, 13 x 9 x 2 baking dish. Top with the cabbage and cheese. Cover and bake at 350F until the rice is tender.
